REGULATIONS TO BE OBSERVED WHILST STUDYING Apart from adhering to the rules and conditions in the MARA offer letter, you need to observe the following: 1. Notification of New Address (ML 7) Please fill in Form ML 7 as soon as possible whenever there is a change of your term address or contact number and send it to MARA London office. 2. Change of Bank/Account (ML 8) Your monthly allowance is being credited into your bank account direct from Kuala Lumpur. Please do not change your bank account without getting approval from MARA London as this will result in you not getting your next monthly allowance.
3. End of Year Examination Results (ML 6) You are required to send a copy of your end of year examination results to MARA London office for each academic year in within 30 days of the results are made to available to you. If you fail to do so, your Books Allowance as well as your Tuition Fees for the next academic year will not be paid. The Examination Results Form can be found in the Forms section, please download, complete it and send it through the post to MARA London office.
4. Practical Training (ML 4) Practical or Clinical Training are only allowed for Medicine students. Students are to undergo the Clinical Training in UK hospitals only. 5. Claims/Reimbursements That Are Processed By MARA London Office The payments that are being dealt with by this office includes : - Tuition Fees, examination fees as well as registration fees for professional courses ie ACCA.
- Books Allowance.
- Thesis Allowance.
- End of Study Allowance, also known as Shipping Allowance.
- Compulsory travelling claims verified by universities.
- Prescription (medicine) and dentistry on NHS only.
Please Note : - The thesis allowance claim is subject to a maximum claim of £54 for Undergraduates, £203 for Masters students and £284 for PhD students and is payable only once at the end of their courses.
- For those who have completed their courses, MARA London office will arrange for your air ticket home, providing that you fill in the Flight Booking Form (ML03) from our website.
6. On leaving the United Kingdom Please inform this office in writing if you intend to leave the United Kingdom/Ireland especially if you are going away for holiday regardless whether it is to Malaysia or elsewhere.
7. Getting Married While Studying (ML 10) Students who are still studying may get married providing that:
- First, they fill in the “Borang Kebenaran Bernikah Kahwin” available from our website, which requires written approval from students’ parents or guardian and both guarantors.
- Secondly, send in the form to MARA London office to get approval from MARA Headquarters Kuala Lumpur.
Pre-university students are not allowed to get married at all. 8. Council Tax British Government has ruled that full time students are exempted from paying council tax. To get the exemption, you have to get a testimonial letter from your university that confirms you are a full time student and send it together with your application for exemption to your local council. All tenants in your house have to be full time students to qualify for this exemption. 9. Computer Loan Schemes (ML 11) Only undergraduate students under the “Skim Pelajar Cemerlang” are eligible for this scheme. To apply, please use the form you can download from our website. Please take note that the cost of a computer/laptop approved for this scheme is up to RM3,000 only. 10. Payment of Halls of Residence Fees under the 60:40 Scheme As of 1st September 2007, this scheme is no longer being supported by MARA London office. Students are to arrange payments for their accommodation themselves. 11. Our Role Apart from looking after students’ welfare, we also monitor students’ movement directly or indirectly to avoid students getting themselves into delicate situations such as criminal activities or immoral conduct that will lead to disciplinary action being taken against them. We implore students to help us by looking after one another and kindly inform or advise us if there is any indication of these unhealthy activities.
